About the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Board
The KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Board is a Schedule 3C Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act. The Board’s mandate is set out in Section 6 of the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Act, 08 of 2010. The Board regulates the operations of 5 Casinos, 8 Bingo operations, 4 Route Operators, 498 Site Operators Type A, 50 Bookmaking Businesses, 2 Totalisators, 2 Racecourse Operators and 15 holders of Certificate of Suitability.
We strive to be the premier gambling regulator in the country, consistently maintaining and enhancing public trust with integrity, transparency and credibility. We also aim to transform the gambling industry for the benefit of all our stakeholders.
We will protect the interest of the public by ensuring the integrity of legalised gambling of strict enforcement of applicable legislation, the licensing of qualified entities and individuals, and fulfilling the objectives of the Provincial Government to deliver a significant source of revenue, enhance tourism, develop and transform the gaming and horse racing industry, whilst promoting broad socio economic and employment opportunities.
